    :Abstract

    Building Information Modelling (BIM) concepts and workflows continue to proliferate within organisations, through project teams, and across the whole construction industry. However, both BIM implementation and BIMdiffusion are yet to be reliably assessed at market scale. Insufficient research has been conducted to date to wards identifying the conceptual structures that would explain and encourage large-scale BIM adoption. This paper introduces a number of macro-adoption models, matrices and charts (Fig. 1). These models can be used to systematically assess BIM adoption across markets, and inform the structured development of country specific BIM adoption policies.This research is published in two

    complementary papers combining conceptual structures with data collected from experts across a number of countries. The first paper “Macro-BIMadoption: conceptual structures” delimits the terms used, reviews applicable diffusion models, and clarifies the research methodology. It then introduces five new conceptual constructs for assessing macro-BIM adoption and informing the development of marketscale BIM diffusion policies. The second paper “Macro-BIM adoption: comparative market analysis” employs these concepts and tools to evaluate BIM adoption and analyse BIM diffusion policies across a number of countries. Using online questionnaires and structured interviews, it applies the models, refines the conceptual tools and develops additional assessmentmetrics. The two papers are complementary and primarily intended to assist policy makers and domain researchers to analyse, develop and improve BIM diffusion policies.

    Building information modeling (BIM) is one of the most significant
    developments in the construction industry, as it introduces new
    technologies, processes, and interactions into practice. Prior research
    shows that there is an increasing interest among practitioners and
    academics to assess maturity, productivity, and performance of BIM
    implementation. This suggests that as BIM adoption grows, the need for
    BIM implementation assessment arises to facilitate monitoring,
    measuring, and improving BIM practices. However, so far, no single
    study has comprehensively reviewed and reported the existing
    approaches, metrics, and criteria used for assessing BIM practices. This
    study aims to review and analyze the literature and synthesize existing
    knowledge relevant to the topic. The author develops a thematic
    framework of BIM aspects, BIM goals, and performance evaluation trends
    to define grounds for assessing BIM implementation. Based on the
    framework, this research analyzed a total number of 97 references
    (selected out of 322 studies) to identify, extract, and classify metrics/
    criteria used for assessing BIM implementation. This study has practical
    implications for developing future BIM maturity models and BIM
    assessment tools as it synthesizes the existing developments on this
    topic, highlights gaps and limitations in metric-based BIM assessment,
    and provides recommendations for further research and developments.

    مقاله: BIM Adoption Within Australian Small And Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs): an innovation diffusion model


    :Abstract
    Despite the envisaged benefits of BIM adoption for SMEs, BIM in SMEs has remained an underrepresented area within the available academic literature. This study proposes and draws upon a framework grounded on innovation diffusion theory (IDT) to provide an illuminating insight into the current state of BIM and the main barriers to BIM adoption within Australian SMEs. Based on analyses of 135 questionnaires completed by SMEs through partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) and grounded on


    the proposed framework, the current state of BIM adoption and barriers to BIM adoption for SMEs are discussed. The findings show that currently around 42% of Australian SMEs use BIM in Level 1 and Level 2 with only around 5% have tried Level 3. It comes to light that lack of knowledge within SMEs and across the construction supply chain is not a major barrier for Australian SMEs. In essence, the main barriers stem from the risks associated with an uncertain return on investment (ROI) for BIM as perceived by key players in SMEs. The findings also show the validity of the framework
    proposed for explaining BIM adoption in Australian SMEs

    :Abstract

    The successful adoption of Building Information Modeling (BIM) leads to the subsequent need for improving management practices and stakeholders' relationships. Previous studies have attempted to explore solutions for non-technical issues; however, a systematic and quantitative review of the details of non-technical field, namely, the managerial areas of BIM (MA–BIM), seems to be missing. Hence, a scientometric approach is used to construct knowledge maps in MA–BIM, thereby allowing bibliometric data to provide an objective and accurate perspective in the field as a whole. Through keyword and abstract term analysis of 126 related papers published from 2007 to 2015, an integrated
    conceptual framework is proposed to summarize current status and structure future directions of MA–BIM based on five principal research areas. This study shows the transformation of MA–BIM from an individual approach to a wide-ranging organizational strategy. It provides new insights into managing BIM projects by referring to the accurate representation and analysis of previous research efforts

    :Abstract


    Building information modelling (BIM) has been a dominant topic in information technology in construction research since this memorable acronym replaced the boring “product modelling in construction” and the academic “conceptual modelling of buildings”. The ideal of having a complete, coherent, true digital representation of buildings has become a goal of scientific research, software development and industrial application. In this paper, the author asks and answers ten key questions about BIM, including what it is, how it will develop, how real are the promises and fears of BIM and what is its impact. The arguments in the answers are based on an understanding of BIM that considers BIM in the frame of structure-function-behavior paradigm. As a structure, BIM is a database with many remaining database challenges. The function of BIM is building information


    management. Building information was managed before the invention of digital computers and is managed today with computers. The goal is efficient support of business processes, such as with database-management systems. BIM behaves as a socio-technical system; it changes institutions, businesses, business models, education, workplaces and careers and is also changed by the environment in which it operates. Game theory and institutional theory provide a good framework to study its adoption. The most important contribution of BIM is not that it is a tool of automation or integration but a tool of further specialization. Specialization is a key to the division of labor, which results in using more knowledge, in higher productivity and in greater creativity.

    This study draws upon a questionnaire survey distributed amongst SMEs
    in Australia to offer an insight into the main barriers to BIM adoption
    within Australian SMEs. Based on analyses of 78 completed
    questionnaires from non-adopters, the main barriers making SMEs shy
    away from BIM adoption are discussed. The findings show that currently
    around 42% of Australian SMEs are engaged with BIM. It comes to light
    that lack of knowledge and resources within SMEs is not a major barrier
    for Australian SMEs. In essence, the main barriers stem from lack of
    interests of clients and subcontractors working for SMEs alongside the
    risks associated with an uncertain return on investment (ROI) for BIM as
    perceived by key players in SMEs. The study contributes to the field by
    providing an updated insight into the status quo of BIM in Australian SMEs
    and spots the main barriers to target for promoting BIM adoption across
    Australian SMEs.

    :Abstract


    BIM has received considerable attention from academics and innovative construction companies in recent
    years within the Iranian context. However, there is a conspicuous lack of studies, which give a picture of the current state
    of BIM in Iran. To address this gap in the body of the knowledge, this study intends to present an account on the current
    state of BIM with a focus on barriers and drivers associated with its adoption in Iran based on the perceptions of Iranian
    construction practitioners. Drawing upon a questionnaire survey completed by 44 construction practitioners and through
    deploying data visualization alongside statistical analyses, it came to light that industry practitioners in Iran are
    inexperienced as to BIM’s use and the level of BIM implementation in the country is at the lowest level of BIM maturity.
    That is, 29.5% of construction companies are involved in some level of BIM adoption whereas 56.8% have had no
    exposure to BIM and 36.4% do not even have any plans to adopt BIM in the near future. The findings also showed that
    the highest ranked barriers to adoption of BIM in Iran are almost entirely associated with the structure of the Iranian
    market, the nature of the construction industry and the predominant business environment in the country as well as lack
    of attention by policy makers and the government. On the other hand, major drivers were found to be associated with
    monetary gains and enhancing competitiveness in the market. The clear message is that widespread adoption of BIM in
    Iran will not occur in the absence of a supportive regulatory environment and financial assistance by policy makers. The
    paper contributes to the field by sharing the preliminary findings of the first study conducted on BIM adoption in Iran,
    which provides a sound basis for further inquiries on the topic

    Abstract


    It is believed that drawing an applicable, relevant and coherent batch of variables is a fundamental tenet in the success of having an integrated BIM-based energy optimisation but in order to achieve a high level of usefulness, these variables need to be refined and prioritised. Thus, this paper is to investigate BIM compatible variables which are of top priorities for energy optimisation of residential buildings in the design stage. A sequential exploratory research was conducted to find out the most relevant and significant
    variables that have a high impact on the energy consumption of residential buildings. A pool including more than 30 variables was established and refined through running Delphi approach with energy and BIM experts to reach the final list of prioritized variables. Conducting a three-round Delphi enabled authors to obtain more meticulous results via a consensus agreement among the respondents on the top 13 variables through lenses of BIM compatibility, applicability to optimization and design stage.M.     Modern construction projects, such as tunnels, bridges and rail tracks, are more complex than ever, as architects,engineers and builders integrate state-of-the-art materials and technologies into designs to increase usability,maximise resource efficiencies and promote sustainability.The most advanced building planning and development technologies are therefore required to successfully navigate the decision-making process and to avoid costly and potentially harmful choices.     این مقاله به دنبال کاهش میزان پرت مصالح مصرفی ساختمان های مدولار پیش ساخته می باشد، به گونه ای که با استفاده از گرس هاپر و گالاپاگوس این میزان به 2 درصد بر اساس استاندارد استفاده شده، کاهش پیدا کرده است.

    The construction industry is under pressure as to reduce the sizable quantities of construction waste generated during construction operations. Modular coordination (MC) and parametric design both have great potentials in reducing waste at the design stage. And anecdotal evidence suggests that great volumes of waste can be reduced through integration of parametric design into MC. The issue of proposing workflows in this context, however, is under-researched, and practical applications, if any, are at the rhetorical stage. To accomplish this, an integration attempt is made in this study to provide the details of a developed-and-experimented workflow for this purpose; a generative algorithm is developed through the Rhinoceros 3D-Grasshopper platform,
